Hyperliquid volume by segment

Hyperliquid runs three kinds of market on one order-book chain. The core perps (BTC, ETH, SOL, HYPE and other crypto) are listed by the validators and carry most of the volume. HIP-3 perps are deployed by third parties who stake HYPE to list their own markets, mostly stocks, indices, oil and gold; they trade in the same app with a dex: prefix such as xyz:SP500. Spot is the token order book, including HYPE/USDC.

Hyperliquid daily volume, fees and open interest: last 30 days

Daily perp volume (core + HIP-3) for each UTC day from October 4, 2026 to November 2, 2026. Total: $237.36B over 30 days, an average of $7.91B a day. The busiest day was Thu, Oct 29 ($17.72B), the quietest Sat, Oct 31 ($2.69B). Weekend days averaged $3.77B against $9.69B on weekdays, and traders paid $82M in perp fees, about 3.4 bps of volume (the average after maker rebates and staking or referral discounts, including builder fees).

Sources (fetched Tue, 03 Nov 2026 12:29 UTC): volume from CoinGecko's Hyperliquid (Futures) daily chart, reported in BTC and converted at Hyperliquid's official BTC daily close; it matched the API's core + HIP-3 total when we checked on October 15, 2026. Fees and open interest from DefiLlama's Hyperliquid Perps adapter (fees include HIP-3 and builder fees, not spot). DefiLlama's open interest runs at about half of the figure at the top of this page: its adapter treats the API figure as double-sided (long and short sides both counted) and halves it. Dated readings from the API

The API reports a rolling 24-hour total, so the headline number changes every rebuild. These are fixed readings of the core perps from the same endpoint:

Volume fell by 69% from Thursday to Saturday (September 24 to 26, 2026) while open interest stayed between $12.35B and $13.01B: traders kept their positions but traded them less. HIP-3 dropped even harder. The largest HIP-3 venue (xyz, run by trade.xyz) did $2.58B in the 24 hours to Fri, Sep 25, 2026 07:32 UTC and $580M in the 24 hours to Sat, Sep 26, 2026 17:58 UTC, as you would expect while the stock and commodity markets they track are closed. Three weeks later the builder markets had grown: in the 24 hours to Thu, Oct 15, 2026 04:38 UTC, HIP-3 perps did $4.71B, 37% of all perp volume.

The ten busiest core markets account for 93% of core perp volume, and BTC alone for 46% (ranked at the build, Tue, 03 Nov 2026 12:27 UTC; the values in the table refresh live).

These builder-deployed perps are the part of Hyperliquid volume that most dashboards either include silently or leave out. Market names carry the deployer's prefix.

Hyperliquid open interest

Open interest (OI) is the value of every position still open: contracts outstanding times the mark price. Volume counts trading activity; OI counts money at risk. On the core perps OI is $10.50B, or 1.71x the last 24 hours of volume. It is concentrated: BTC holds 29% of it and the top five markets 79%. A market whose 24h volume is far above its OI (a high volume ÷ OI ratio) is being traded in and out quickly; a low ratio means positions are held. Hyperliquid TVL: bridge deposits, HLP and the chain

"Hyperliquid TVL" means three different numbers, and dashboards rarely say which one they show:

• Exchange TVL: $8.05B (DefiLlama's "Hyperliquid" total, Tue, 03 Nov 2026 12:29 UTC). It is mostly the collateral traders have deposited: the Hyperliquid Bridge alone holds $6.31B. This is the figure most "Hyperliquid TVL" charts plot.
• HLP vault: $150M (Tue, 03 Nov 2026 12:27 UTC). The protocol's market-making and liquidation vault, read from the official API; anyone can deposit, with the risks explained in our Hyperliquid vaults guide.
• Chain TVL: $2.57B. DeFi apps built on the Hyperliquid chain (lending, liquid staking, DEXs on HyperEVM), which DefiLlama lists as the "Hyperliquid L1" chain. It is a separate figure and not part of the exchange total above.

TVL measures money parked on the venue, not activity: Hyperliquid turns over $10.89B a day on $8.05B of deposits, about 1.4x its TVL every 24 hours. Moving funds in and out goes through the bridge; the steps and fees are in the Hyperliquid bridge guide.

Funding extremes and leverage caps

Only markets with more than $5M of 24h volume are shown in the funding lists (picked at the build, Tue, 03 Nov 2026 12:27 UTC; the rates refresh live). Hyperliquid dashboards compared

Every Hyperliquid dashboard reads the same public data (the info API and the chain), then adds history, its own scope and its own way of counting. Which one to open depends on the question. Checked on October 15, 2026:

Hyperliquid volume vs HYPE token volume

Search "Hyperliquid volume" and nearly half the results are HYPE price pages. They answer a different question. Exchange volume (this page) is the notional value of every trade on Hyperliquid, mostly BTC, ETH and SOL perps. Token volume is how much of the HYPE coin changed hands across all exchanges that list it: $1.15B in the last 24 hours according to CoinGecko (Tue, 03 Nov 2026 12:29 UTC; market cap $20.25B). On Hyperliquid itself, the HYPE/USDC spot pair traded $76M and the HYPE perp $669M. A busy exchange does not imply a busy token, or the other way round. Why Hyperliquid stats differ between sites

CoinGecko, DefiLlama, Token Terminal, news articles and this page can all be right and still disagree by 2x or more. The usual reasons:

• Scope. Core perps only, or also HIP-3 builder markets and spot? Our core-only figure was about 17% below the all-perp total on September 26, 2026; CoinGecko's Hyperliquid (Futures) page was within about 1% of the all-perp total.
• Window. A rolling 24 hours (the API, CoinGecko) is not the same as the last complete UTC day (most daily charts). Neither is a 30-day total divided by 30.
• Timing. A Thursday reading and a Saturday reading can differ by 3x, as the table above shows.
• Counting. The API counts each trade once: the sum of the official hourly candles (volume × price) over the same 24 hours matched it within 0.1% when we checked BTC, SOL and ETH. A dashboard that adds the buyer's and the seller's side will show about double. Read each site's methodology note.
• Open interest convention. CoinGecko's Hyperliquid (Futures) open interest matched the API figure on October 15, 2026, and so does the figure at the top of this page. DefiLlama's adapter describes that API figure as double-sided (long and short sides both counted) and halves it, so DefiLlama shows about half. Before comparing Hyperliquid's OI with a CEX or another DEX, check which convention each source uses and compare like with like.
• Paywalls. DefiLlama's website shows Hyperliquid perp volume, but its API serves that series only on the paid plan, which is why third-party sites quote different volume sources.
• Token vs exchange. See the section above: HYPE token volume is a separate number.

Hyperliquid market share vs other perp DEXs and Binance

Across the 19 perp DEXs we track on CoinGecko (Tue, 03 Nov 2026 12:27 UTC), Hyperliquid had 48% of 24h volume and 69% of open interest, about 4.5x the next venue, Variational Omni. CoinGecko reports these figures in BTC; we convert them at Hyperliquid's BTC mid price.

What this volume means for your fees

High volume is not just a bragging number. More trading means deeper order books and tighter spreads, so a market order moves the price less and the fee is the main cost you pay. On Hyperliquid that fee is 0.045% taker / 0.015% maker at the entry tier, charged on position size: a $10,000 market order costs $4.50. Prices, volume, open interest and funding refresh in your browser about once a minute; the build values and their time stay in the page. OI cap marks a market at its open-interest cap: orders that would increase open interest (or flip a position) are rejected, and so are orders priced more aggressively than the oracle. A linked name has its own market page (margin tiers, OI cap, 7-day funding, hours, fees); every market by asset class is in the Hyperliquid markets list.

About this data

Core perps come from Hyperliquid's public metaAndAssetCtxs endpoint, HIP-3 from perpDexs plus metaAndAssetCtxs for each builder DEX, and spot from spotMetaAndAssetCtxs, all at build time, and the open-interest-cap list from perpsAtOpenInterestCap (one request per dex: it takes the name of a builder-deployed dex and, without one, reads the first (validator-operated) perp dex); delisted markets are excluded. While the page is open your browser repeats the metaAndAssetCtxs requests about once a minute and the cap list every fifth time (5 requests of weight 20 per refresh and 5 more when the cap list is read; Hyperliquid allows 1,200 per minute per IP), only while the tab is visible and for at most 30 minutes; spot, TVL, HLP, fees and the 30-day history stay as built. "24h volume" is the API's dayNtlVlm: USD notional over a rolling 24 hours. "Open interest" is the API's openInterest × mark price. Funding is the current hourly rate (positive = longs pay shorts).
