How Hyperliquid Deposits Work
Hyperliquid runs on its own L1 blockchain (HyperEVM), which is separate from Ethereum, Solana, or other popular chains. To deposit funds, you need to send USDC from an external wallet or exchange to your Hyperliquid deposit address. Hyperliquid supports deposits from three main sources: the Arbitrum bridge, direct Solana bridging via Wormhole, and CCTP (Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol) for native USDC. The simplest method for most users is to deposit USDC directly from a centralized exchange like Binance or Coinbase using the Arbitrum network, which has the lowest fees and fastest settlement times.
Method 1: Deposit from Binance via Arbitrum (Fastest & Cheapest)
This is the recommended method for most users. Binance supports Arbitrum withdrawals, and Hyperliquid's Arbitrum bridge settles deposits in under 5 minutes with minimal fees. Follow these steps:
- Step 1: Log into your Binance account and navigate to Wallet → Withdraw
- Step 2: Select USDC as the asset. Choose Arbitrum One as the network (not Ethereum, not BSC — Arbitrum is critical)
- Step 3: Copy your Hyperliquid deposit address. On Hyperliquid, go to the Wallet tab and click "Deposit." Your Arbitrum deposit address is displayed there. It starts with "0x" and is unique to your account
- Step 4: Enter the amount. The minimum deposit is typically 10 USDC, though higher amounts are more gas-efficient. Binance charges a flat withdrawal fee of approximately 0.1-1 USDC for Arbitrum withdrawals
- Step 5: Confirm the withdrawal. The transaction usually takes 2-5 minutes to appear in your Hyperliquid wallet once confirmed on-chain
Important: Always send a small test deposit (10-20 USDC) first to confirm the address and network are correct. If you send to the wrong address or use the wrong network, your funds may be unrecoverable.
Method 2: Deposit from Coinbase via Arbitrum
Coinbase also supports Arbitrum USDC withdrawals. The process is similar to Binance:
- Step 1: In Coinbase, go to My Assets → USDC → Send/Withdraw
- Step 2: Select Arbitrum as the network. Paste your Hyperliquid Arbitrum deposit address
- Step 3: Enter the amount and confirm. Coinbase charges no additional fees for Arbitrum withdrawals beyond network gas fees (approximately $0.10-0.50)
- Step 4: Wait 3-10 minutes for the deposit to arrive. Hyperliquid requires 12 block confirmations on Arbitrum before the funds are credited
Coinbase is slightly slower than Binance due to additional compliance checks, but it is equally reliable. For large deposits (10,000+ USDC), Coinbase may require additional verification before releasing the withdrawal.
Method 3: Bridge from Solana via Wormhole
If your funds are on Solana (common for traders using Phantom or Solflare wallets), you can bridge USDC directly to Hyperliquid using Wormhole:
- Step 1: Go to the Wormhole bridge interface (portalbridge.com) and connect your Solana wallet
- Step 2: Select USDC on Solana as the source and HyperEVM as the destination
- Step 3: Enter your Hyperliquid deposit address as the recipient
- Step 4: Confirm the transaction on your wallet. Wormhole typically takes 10-20 minutes to finalize the bridge
Solana bridging is convenient if you already hold USDC on Solana, but the fees are higher than Arbitrum (approximately $2-5 in gas and bridge fees). Only use this method if you do not have access to a centralized exchange.
Method 4: Deposit from MetaMask via Arbitrum
If you hold USDC in a self-custodial wallet like MetaMask, you can deposit directly to Hyperliquid:
- Step 1: Ensure your MetaMask is connected to Arbitrum One. Add the Arbitrum network if it is not already configured: chain ID 42161, RPC URL https://arb1.arbitrum.io/rpc
- Step 2: Copy your Hyperliquid Arbitrum deposit address from the Wallet tab
- Step 3: In MetaMask, send USDC to the Hyperliquid deposit address using the Arbitrum network
- Step 4: Confirm the transaction. Arbitrum gas fees are typically $0.10-0.50 for a USDC transfer
This method is best for users who prefer self-custody and already have USDC on Arbitrum. If your USDC is on Ethereum mainnet, you will need to bridge it to Arbitrum first using a bridge like Arbitrum Bridge or Across Protocol — which adds an extra step and additional gas fees (often $10-30 for Ethereum mainnet gas).
Deposit Fees and Minimums Comparison
- Binance Arbitrum withdrawal: 0.1-1 USDC fee, 10 USDC minimum, 3-5 minute arrival
- Coinbase Arbitrum withdrawal: $0.10-0.50 network fee, 10 USDC minimum, 5-10 minute arrival
- MetaMask Arbitrum transfer: $0.10-0.50 gas fee, no minimum, 3-5 minute arrival
- Solana Wormhole bridge: $2-5 total fees, 10 USDC minimum, 10-20 minute arrival
- Ethereum mainnet bridge via Arbitrum: $10-30 gas + $0.10 Arbitrum fees, high minimum recommended due to gas costs
For most users, Binance or Coinbase via Arbitrum is the clear winner — cheapest and fastest. Use Solana bridging only if you need to fund from a Solana wallet without using a CEX.
Common Deposit Mistakes to Avoid
- Wrong network: Sending USDC on Ethereum mainnet to a Hyperliquid Arbitrum address. Your funds arrive on Arbitrum but are stuck — Hyperliquid only monitors Arbitrum deposits. You must contact support or use a reverse bridge.
- Sending non-USDC tokens: Hyperliquid only accepts USDC deposits. Sending ETH, BTC, or other tokens will result in lost funds. Convert everything to USDC before depositing.
- Typing the address manually: Always copy and paste the deposit address. A single character error sends your funds to a dead address. Hyperliquid provides a QR code scanner on mobile — use it.
- Depositing below the dust threshold: Deposits under 1 USDC may not be credited due to dust limits. The official minimum is 10 USDC for reliable processing.
What Happens After You Deposit
Once your transaction is confirmed on Arbitrum, Hyperliquid processes the deposit after 12 block confirmations (approximately 2-3 minutes). Your balance updates in the Wallet tab. From there, USDC is available immediately for trading perpetuals or providing liquidity. Note that Hyperliquid does not automatically transfer deposited USDC to your trading wallet — it goes to your spot wallet. To start trading, transfer from the spot wallet to the perpetual wallet (one click in the Wallet tab). There is no fee for this internal transfer. If you plan to trade immediately, set up this transfer in advance so your funds are ready when the deposit arrives.
